About the position

The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) role involves providing essential personal care and related services to patients in their homes, following an established care plan. The PCA is responsible for ensuring the comfort and personal needs of patients, assisting them with daily living activities, and performing homemaking tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with personal hygiene and daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating.
  • Prepare meals and snacks according to patient instructions.
  • Perform patient-specific activities as directed by a nurse, including changing ostomy appliances and taking vital signs.
  • Conduct homemaking activities such as cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or G.E.D certificate preferred.
  • Six months of experience as a Personal Care Assistant in healthcare settings.
  • Successful completion of a state-approved Nurse Aide or Personal Care Assistant course.
  • Current CPR certificate is recommended.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English as needed for the job.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have access to an insured automobile.

Nice-to-haves
