About the position

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. This role is crucial in enhancing the quality of life for our clients, particularly those with developmental disabilities, dementia, or those residing in long-term care facilities. Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance clients' social interaction and mental well-being.
  • Administer medication as prescribed and monitor clients for any side effects or changes in condition.
  • Support individuals with developmental disabilities by implementing personalized care plans.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, ensuring that their living space is tidy and organized.
  • Document daily activities and any changes in client behavior or condition accurately.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Assist with mobility and transportation needs as required.

Requirements

  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in long-term care settings is preferred.
  • Knowledge of dementia care practices is a valuable asset.
  • Strong caregiving skills, including direct support experience in nursing homes or retirement homes.
  • Familiarity with medication administration protocols and safety systems.
  • Ability to effectively assist clients with ADLs while promoting their independence.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact compassionately with clients and their families.
  • Patience, empathy, and a strong desire to help others are essential qualities for success in this role.
