About the position

The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) position at St. Mary's Health Care System is a part-time role that operates on a PRN (as needed) basis, specifically every other weekend from 7 AM to 7 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. This role is situated within the Highland Hills Village Assisted Living Community and Memory Care center, where the PCA will provide essential support to residents, ensuring their comfort and well-being. The PCA will assist with daily living activities, which may include personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management, while also fostering a safe and supportive environment for residents. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, patient, and dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for those in their care. The position requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent, along with current CPR and First Aid certifications. While assisted living experience and CNA certification are preferred, entry-level candidates are also encouraged to apply. This role is vital in maintaining the dignity and respect of residents, and the PCA will work closely with other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Provide medication management and support as needed.
  • Prepare meals and assist with feeding when necessary.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for residents.
  • Document and report any changes in residents' conditions to the nursing staff.
  • Engage residents in social and recreational activities to promote their well-being.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Current First Aid certification.
  • Experience in assisted living or as a medication aide preferred.
  • CNA certification preferred but not required.
