About the position

Home Instead® Personal Care Assistants provide a variety of non-medical services that allow seniors to remain in their homes as they age. The role focuses on enhancing the quality of life for seniors by assisting them with daily activities and providing companionship, while also ensuring dignity and respect in care delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Personal Care services such as assisting with bathing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Provide Specialized services including Advanced Alzheimer's/Dementia Care and Hospice Care.
  • Offer Companionship services through conversation and stabilization assistance with walking.
  • Prepare meals and clean up meal-related items.
  • Provide medication reminders and appointment reminders.
  • Perform light housekeeping tasks including dusting, vacuuming, and changing linens.
  • Wash and iron laundry, run errands, and accompany clients to appointments.
  • Document daily activities and report significant changes in a client's needs or living conditions.
  • Maintain regular communication with supervisor and office staff.
  • Complete all required training through the online learning platform.
  • Participate in company-sponsored training and social events.
  • Report hours according to office policy and communicate changes in availability.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Experience in long-term care, home & community care, or related fields.
  • Ability to lift, push or pull 25 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, twist, stoop, kneel and reach.
  • Ability to treat and care for clients and their property with dignity and respect.
  • Ability to adapt to various living environments and locations.
  • Ability to communicate with clients in a friendly and congenial manner.

Nice-to-haves

  • First aid certification preferred.
  • Ability to work with individuals with developmental disabilities or Alzheimer's.
  • Familiarity with resident rights and memory care practices preferred.
