About the position

The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) role at United Federal Home Care involves providing essential care and support to elderly and disabled individuals in their homes. The PCA will engage in various tasks, including personal care, meal preparation, medication management, and light housekeeping, while also documenting any changes in the clients' conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personalized personal care assistance to individuals, including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
  • Assist with mobility and transfers, ensuring the safety and well-being of each individual.
  • Support individuals with meal preparation, feeding, and adherence to dietary requirements.
  • Aid in medication management by ensuring correct dosage and timely administration.
  • Perform light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and organized living environment.
  • Engage individuals in meaningful activities and provide companionship.
  • Monitor and document any changes in the individual's condition or needs, reporting to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned based on client needs.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work independently.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Patience and empathy when assisting individuals with physical or cognitive limitations.
  • Capacity to maintain confidentiality and respect individual privacy.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience as a Personal Care Assistant or in a similar role is preferred but not required.
  • CNA certification is preferred.
  • BLS Certification is preferred.
  • Certified Medical Assistant certification is preferred.
