About the position

Care to Stay Home is seeking dedicated caregivers to join our team as Personal Care Assistants (PCAs). In this role, you will provide varying levels of care to senior clients in their homes, ensuring they receive the support they need to maintain their independence and quality of life. We prioritize matching you with a permanent client schedule that aligns with your skills and availability, allowing for consistency in care. On your first shift, a Care Manager will introduce you to your client to ensure a good fit, fostering a positive working relationship from the start. As a PCA, your responsibilities will include assisting clients with personal hygiene, mobility support, medication reminders, meal preparation, and light housekeeping. You will also provide companionship, assist with errands and transportation, monitor health changes, ensure safety, and maintain records of care provided. Your role is crucial in helping clients engage in daily activities and reducing feelings of loneliness through meaningful interactions. Responsibilities

  • Help with bathing, grooming, dressing, and oral care.
  • Assist with transferring, walking, and using mobility aids like walkers or wheelchairs.
  • Ensure that medications are taken on schedule and as prescribed.
  • Plan and prepare nutritious meals, and assist with eating if necessary.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties, such as cleaning, laundry, and organizing living spaces.
  • Provide emotional support and engage in activities to reduce feelings of loneliness.
  • Assist with grocery shopping, picking up prescriptions, and sometimes provide transportation to appointments.
  • Observe and report changes in the client's physical or mental health to family members or healthcare providers.
  • Ensure a safe living environment by addressing potential hazards and monitoring for any signs of distress or emergencies.
  • Help with activities of daily living (ADLs), including toileting, feeding, and managing incontinence.
  • Maintain records of care provided, including notes on the client's condition and any changes observed.
  • Serve as a liaison between the client, their family, and other healthcare professionals.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of caregiving experience, preferably with senior clients.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the role, which include being able to lift up to 40 pounds and assist clients with mobility.
  • Home Care Aide or CNA/NAC certification (75 hour HCA training offered at no cost).
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Commitment to show up to work to provide critical and consistent care to your client.
  • Reliability to show up for shifts on time and enjoy providing companionship and care for seniors.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background and driving record checks with no felonies.
