About the position

As a Personal Care Assistant at Klarus Personal Care, you will play a vital role in providing essential support to clients in accordance with agency policies and procedures. Your responsibilities will include performing personal care tasks that you have been trained for, ensuring that you practice safely and competently within your knowledge and experience. You will be expected to demonstrate effective interpersonal communication with clients, caregivers, and other employees, fostering a positive and supportive environment. Your role will involve a variety of personal care assignments, including basic first aid, infection control measures, and ensuring environmental cleanliness and safety. You will also be responsible for meal preparation and the proper care and use of appliances and equipment. Accurate documentation of the services rendered is crucial, as you will need to follow established assignments and comply with applicable regulations. This includes protecting client health care information and reporting any potential fraud or abuse to the compliance officer. In addition to your direct care responsibilities, you will be expected to participate in staff meetings and in-service training as assigned. It is important to remain familiar with the Agency Patients' Bill of Rights and Responsibilities, as well as the organizational structure and channels of communication within the agency. You will need to inform the agency of your availability for work assignments and honor your commitments to those assignments. Continuous education and seeking supervisory guidance when necessary are also key components of your role. Overall, you will be an integral part of the care and services team, contributing positively to the agency's mission and the well-being of clients.

Responsibilities

  • Function within your knowledge and experience, practicing safely and competently within PCP/HM training and experience.
  • Demonstrate appropriate interpersonal communication with client, caregiver, and employees.
  • Perform and demonstrate competency with personal care assignments and tasks for which you have had training and experience and as assigned by the Services Consultant.
  • Provide basic first aid as needed.
  • Implement infection control measures to maintain a safe environment.
  • Utilize proper body mechanics during care tasks.
  • Ensure environmental cleanliness and safety for clients.
  • Prepare meals for clients as required.
  • Care for and use appliances and equipment properly.
  • Follow established assignments and protocols.
  • Document services rendered accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Notify services consultant or Director of changes in client's condition.
  • Comply with applicable regulations and protect client health care information.
  • Report potential fraud and abuse to the compliance officer.
  • Participate in staff meetings and in-service training as assigned.
  • Remain familiar with the Agency Patients' Bill of Rights and Responsibilities.
  • Inform the Agency of your availability and desire for work assignments.
  • Honor your commitment to work assignments that you accept.
  • Seek supervisory guidance whenever you have a question regarding tasks or responsibilities.
  • Participate in continuing educational programs as requested by the Agency.
  • Communicate areas for improvement in operations/patient care to management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in accordance with your position and qualifications.

Requirements

  • Must not perform any personal care service that requires the skills of a certified nursing assistant.
  • Ability to notify services consultant or Director of changes in client's condition.
  • Compliance with applicable regulations, including accurate documentation of services provided.
  • Protection of client's health care information and reporting of potential fraud and abuse.
  • Consistent use of proper body mechanics and infection control techniques.
  • Familiarity with and respect for the Agency Patients' Bill of Rights and Responsibilities.
  • Ability to inform the Agency of availability for work assignments and honor commitments.
  • Participation in staff meetings and in-service training as assigned.
  • Familiarity with the Agency organizational structure and channels of communication.
  • Compliance with Agency Employee Policies and Procedures, including timely submission of timesheets.
  • Ability to function positively as a member of the care and services team.
  • Willingness to seek supervisory guidance when needed.
  • Participation in continuing educational programs as requested by the Agency.
  • Understanding that patients are clients of the Agency and prohibiting services outside of the Agency's direction.
