About the position

We need you at The Ashford at Sturbridge as a Personal Care Assistant (PCA)! Join the Wallick team, where we are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of our residents. This is a full-time position that requires working every other weekend, with a pay rate of $16 per hour. As a PCA, you will provide direct resident care, striving to enhance their mental, physical, spiritual, emotional, and social well-being. You will work collaboratively with a team to ensure that residents have a comfortable and safe environment to call home. In your role, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional personal service and daily care to residents. This includes effective communication with residents, staff, management, and families. You will need to have knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as you will provide physical care that encompasses all aspects of personal hygiene and grooming. Timely responses to call lights and resident needs are crucial, as is assisting in maintaining acceptable nutrition for residents and documenting meal intake. You will also be responsible for first aid, medication reminders, and creating a therapeutic environment that encourages resident participation in activities. Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional personal service and daily care to residents.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, staff, management, and families.
  • Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures.
  • Provide physical resident care, including personal hygiene and grooming.
  • Answer call lights in a timely manner and respond to resident needs accordingly.
  • Assist in maintaining acceptable nutrition for residents and document meal intake.
  • Know proper techniques for first aid.
  • Complete documentation of medication reminders.
  • Assist in maintaining a therapeutic environment for residents.
  • Motivate and encourage resident involvement in activities.
  • Assist residents to and from activities.
  • Lift, turn, and reposition residents as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • CPR Certification is required.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Great customer service skills are essential.
  • Ability to communicate in writing and verbally with co-workers, residents, family members, and business partners.
  • Previous experience working in an Assisted Living or Memory Care Community is a plus, but all nurses are encouraged to apply.

Nice-to-haves

  • Nurse Aide Certification is a plus, but not required.
