About the position

Hartford Elderly Services LLC is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Personal Care Attendant (PCA) to join our team in New Britain, CT. This role is essential in providing necessary assistance to our clients, ensuring they receive the care and companionship they need to enhance their quality of life. As a PCA, you will be responsible for visiting clients in their homes, assisting them with daily activities, and fostering a supportive environment. The position offers both part-time and full-time opportunities, with flexible hours available during weekdays and weekends, specifically from 10 AM to 3 PM. We are looking for individuals who are not only skilled but also possess a genuine desire to help others. In this role, you will engage with clients on a personal level, helping them with basic hygiene and grooming tasks, performing routine housekeeping chores, and providing transportation to medical appointments and errands. You will also be responsible for ensuring that medications are dispensed correctly and that clients complete their required exercises as directed by healthcare professionals. Maintaining detailed records of client activities and reporting any changes to the Client Care Coordinator is crucial. Building a trusting relationship with clients is key, as it allows you to provide companionship and actively listen to their concerns, making a significant impact on their overall well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Visit clients in their homes to provide assistance.
  • Assist clients with basic hygiene and grooming duties to promote adequate self-care.
  • Perform routine housekeeping chores including cooking and cleaning duties that the client is unable to do for themselves.
  • Transport clients to medical appointments, errands, and other necessary locations.
  • Ensure proper medications are dispensed and required exercises are completed as directed by a medical professional.
  • Provide physical assistance such as help getting in and out of bed or walking with a walker when required.
  • Maintain detailed records of the client's activities and report any relevant changes to the Client Care Coordinator.
  • Forge a relationship with clients to provide a sense of companionship and actively listen to any concerns.

Requirements

  • PCA / HHA Certification is preferred.
  • Ability to perform physical activity and heavy lifting when required.
  • Compassionate attitude with the ability to establish beneficial relationships with clients.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills to successfully interface with clients and other care professionals.
  • Keen attention to detail and the ability to maintain thorough client records.
  • Willingness to follow client-specific directions provided by the supervisor or other care professionals.

Nice-to-haves

  • Driver's license and a vehicle is a plus.
