About the position

The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) role involves providing quality and safe home health care services to patients, ensuring their comfort and well-being. The PCA works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and is responsible for assisting with personal care activities and maintaining a safe environment for clients.

Responsibilities

• Perform personal care activities including bathing, shampooing, skincare/nail care, oral hygiene, shaving, dressing, meal preparation, light housekeeping, and laundry.
• Follow the patient plan of care as directed by the Registered Nurse.
• Document the delivery of quality and safe health care services in the home.
• Identify and report needs and changes in the patient's condition or treatment.
• Accurately report findings to the Registered Nurse in a timely manner.
• Demonstrate the safe use of equipment and supplies effectively and efficiently.
• Promote personal safety and a safe environment for the client by observing infection control practices.
• Participate in patient case conferences according to Agency policy and procedure.
• Participate in education programs and complete at least 12 in-service courses within 12 months.

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 months of experience in home health care or a related health care field.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write, and carry out directions.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Possess a valid Maryland driver's license and automobile insurance.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Health clearance/physical within the last 12 months.
• Criminal background clearance.
• Reliable transportation.
