About the position

As a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) at Patricia LLC, you will play a vital role in providing compassionate and personalized care to patients in their homes. This position is essential for ensuring that patients receive the necessary support to maintain their dignity and quality of life. You will be responsible for following care plans and delivering personal care services that may include bathing, oral hygiene, skin care, and assistance with dressing. Your role will also involve helping patients with mobility, including transfers and ambulation, using various assistive devices such as wheelchairs and walkers. In addition to personal care, you will assist patients with self-administered medications, ensuring they have the necessary items to take their medications safely. You will also be responsible for maintaining a hygienic environment for the patient, which includes meal preparation, feeding, and light cleaning tasks. This position requires effective communication skills, as you will need to interact with patients, some of whom may have hearing impairments. You will also participate in ongoing patient care coordination with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care delivery. Responsibilities

  • Renders personal care to patients according to the care plan.
  • Assists with bathing, oral hygiene, skin care, hair care, and dressing.
  • Provides assistance with getting to and from the bathroom.
  • Helps with repositioning, transfers, and ambulation using equipment such as lifts, wheelchairs, walkers, and canes.
  • Assists with self-administered medications, including preparation and supervision of medication intake.
  • Maintains a hygienic environment by preparing meals, feeding patients, and cleaning utensils.
  • Performs light cleaning of the patient's immediate environment to ensure safety and order.
  • Launders bed linen and clothing when the patient is unable to do so.
  • Participates in ongoing patient care coordination with all disciplines.

Requirements

  • Completion of the ninth grade in school.
  • Successful completion of the written and on-site HomeCare Aide Competency Evaluation prior to performing patient care independently.
  • Ability to see and hear adequately to respond to visual and auditory requests from patients.
  • Ability to speak clearly to communicate with hearing impaired patients.
  • Upper extremity mobility that does not impede fine motor coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow written directions.
  • Must have reliable personal transportation.
