About the position

The Personal Care Attendant (PCA) provides essential services to clients in their home environment, focusing on maintaining their well-being and safety. This role requires a compassionate individual who can work independently while prioritizing the needs of the client. The PCA is responsible for assisting with daily living activities and ensuring a safe environment for the client.

Responsibilities

  • Report all significant changes in the client's circumstances to the immediate supervisor within twenty-four (24) hours.
  • Report emergency life-endangering situations to clients' family, doctor, and/or health officials within one (1) hour of awareness/occurrence.
  • Keep time sheets and any other documentation required by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services or by the Agency.
  • Perform all assigned tasks in compliance with the Agency policies, rules, and procedures.
  • Report all client abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
  • Assist client in the activities of daily living and help with personal hygiene requirements.
  • Provide supervision of activities and assist when necessary for protection from physical harm.
  • Continuously watch for safety hazards and act immediately to remove them or take reasonable steps to mitigate risks.

Requirements

  • Be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Competent to perform personal care and housekeeping tasks.
  • Have not been convicted of an offense under Chapter 3, 19 and 20 of the Texas Penal Code and other offenses under Section §250.006 and Section §3.201 of the Texas Penal Code.
