About the position

The Personal Care Assistant (Direct Support Professional) at Sevita is responsible for providing direct support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in residential settings. This role involves assisting with daily living activities, health maintenance, medication administration, and promoting socialization and skill development. The position is mission-driven, focusing on enhancing the quality of life for those served, and requires collaboration with a team to ensure the well-being of individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support or assistance in accordance with individual service or program plans.
  • Assist with socialization, health maintenance, medication administration, and skill or behavioral development.
  • Support individuals with personal care, housekeeping, recreational activities, transportation, and community integration.
  • Document progress and activities accurately and maintain confidentiality.
  • Assist with money management and ensure the safety of individuals' funds and property.
  • Maintain healthy relationships with individuals, families, and case managers.
  • Report any instances of alleged abuse or neglect and document incidents as required.
  • Accompany individuals to medical appointments and relay information to medical providers as needed.
  • Administer medications and treatments accurately, if assigned, and monitor individuals' health.
  • Transport individuals safely into the community and maintain a clean and safe environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Six months of experience in human services preferred.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing, car registration, and vehicle insurance if providing transportation.
  • Completion of all state-required training and certification in mandated timeframes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • First aid and CPR certification.
