About the position

As a Personal Care Attendant (PCA) at St. Vincent's Special Needs Services (SVSNS), you will play a crucial role in providing direct care and support to clients with multiple developmental disabilities and complex medical needs. This position is integral to ensuring that each client receives personalized care tailored to their individual needs and preferences. You will be responsible for implementing person-centered plans that focus on enhancing the quality of life for each individual. This includes not only personal care but also engaging clients in recreational activities and reinforcing their habilitation objectives. Your work will directly impact the lives of over 400 children and adults each year, making every moment of your job significant. In this role, you will supervise, train, and assist clients in various daily activities, ensuring that their personal property and adaptive equipment are well-maintained. You will also be responsible for planning and scheduling transportation for clients to their appointments and community activities, fostering their independence and social engagement. Documentation of routine medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare professionals is another critical aspect of your responsibilities. Additionally, you will assist clients with meal preparation, promoting good nutritional habits and adherence to prescribed diets, which is essential for their overall health and well-being. Responsibilities

  • Supervises, trains, and/or assists client in accordance with the person-centered plan, including personal care, recreation, and reinforcement of individual habilitation objectives.
  • Assures client's personal property and adaptive equipment is clean and in good order including wheelchair, clothing, and living space.
  • Plans, schedules, and transports clients to work, appointments, and community activities.
  • Documents routine medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians and/or health care professionals.
  • Assists individuals with meal preparation and encourages good nutritional habits and adherence to prescribed diets.

Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Connecticut Drivers License Required.
