About the position

TEKsystems is currently searching for career-driven candidates interested in a Personal Finance Management Specialist opportunity with a Fortune 100 Financial Institution in the Winchester, VA area. The role is designed to provide productive, preventive, and remedial consumer credit counseling and debt management services for the membership. As a Personal Finance Management Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering consumer credit counseling and administering debt management services for members. This includes recovering loan payments that might otherwise have been lost due to members' financial difficulties. Your responsibilities will involve interviewing members to accurately assess their financial situation and determining the level of counseling required, whether it be educational, preventive, or remedial. You will analyze members' debts, assist them in developing personal budgets, and determine their qualification for entry into the debt management program (DMP). Additionally, you will intervene with creditors and collectors in complex or difficult situations, such as cases involving foreclosures, bankruptcies, and garnishments. Resolving critical member problems will also be a key part of your role, which may involve investigating why a collector is pursuing a member in DMP or mediating with persistent collection agencies and creditors. This position operates on a schedule of Monday to Friday, from 11:30 AM to 8:00 PM EST, and offers a hybrid working environment, requiring two days on-site per week. Requirements

  • Experience that demonstrates basic knowledge and skill in conducting interviews, collection of debts, and analyzing financial circumstances.
  • Interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate the ability to convey information effectively.
  • Effective telephone skills.
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical formulae and work accurately with numbers.
  • Tact, diplomacy, and persuasiveness to deal with members and creditors on financial matters, often in difficult circumstances.
  • Knowledge of credit and collection practices and procedures.
  • Familiarity with principles of financial budgeting.
