About the position

The Case Manager position in the Personal Injury department is a full-time role that involves direct support to the assigned Personal Injury attorney. The Case Manager will be responsible for managing a caseload of approximately 115 to 125 pre-litigation matters, collaborating with various departments including Workers' Compensation and Employment Law. This role requires a proactive approach to client management, including interviewing clients and witnesses, contacting insurance carriers, and gathering necessary documentation to support claims. The Case Manager will also assist clients in resolving property damage claims and will be involved in negotiating settlements with claims adjusters. This position demands strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion. The Case Manager will participate in monthly file reviews and will be responsible for maintaining both electronic and hardcopy files in accordance with firm policies. Additionally, the role includes physical demands such as lifting and transporting materials, making it essential for candidates to be physically capable of meeting these requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage approximately 115 to 125 pre-litigation matters with the assistance of the assigned pod leader and Firm support staff
  • Interview clients, witnesses, and law enforcement officers
  • Contact third party and first party insurance carriers to open insurance claims
  • Open Medi-Cal and/or Medicare claims on behalf of the client
  • Gather police reports and other supporting evidence
  • Conduct research on third parties, including asset searches and policy limits
  • Request, receive, and document medical information
  • Assist clients in resolving property damage claims
  • Communicate and correspond with clients regarding medical treatment and current symptoms
  • Communicate and correspond with claims adjusters and treating medical providers
  • Participate in monthly file reviews with assigned Personal Injury attorney
  • Gather all necessary documents for demand writing team
  • Negotiate settlements with claims adjusters
  • Assist clients through the settlement process
  • Open and review incoming mail
  • Assist assigned Personal Injury attorney in tracking and submitting all required government claim forms
  • Fax, photocopy, scan, and convert or export/import documents to/from other applications
  • Maintain electronic and hardcopy files in accordance with the Firm's policies and procedures
  • Actively manage each assigned matter with Attorney approval
  • Participate in liability and insurance investigations for all assigned matters
  • Manage all matters involving governmental entities
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management and/or Pod Leader

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in a Personal Injury law firm
  • Possess a working knowledge of personal injury pre-litigation matters
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel) and other applications (i.e., Adobe, Internet)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Bilingual, fluent in English and Spanish, is required
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
  • Strong organizational and clerical skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Ability to adhere to law office policies and procedures
  • Ability to identify urgent tasks and prioritize accordingly
  • Ability to maintain composure and professionalism under pressure
