About the position

The Personal Injury Paralegal at Chaffin Luhana LLP is responsible for supporting clients and the legal team throughout the client journey. This role involves managing medical records, communicating with clients, preparing legal documents, and assisting attorneys and senior paralegals in case management. The paralegal will ensure that all documentation is accurate and timely, while also managing case workflows and deadlines under attorney supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Order, review, and summarize medical records to prepare factual responses for discovery.
  • Conduct regular phone interviews with clients and provide timely updates on their legal cases.
  • Evaluate cases thoroughly to prepare for attorney review and filing.
  • Oversee the workflow of cases using the electronic case management system.
  • Draft and send professional correspondence.
  • Draft pleadings, including complaints, discovery responses, and other legal documents.
  • Provide general assistance to attorneys and senior paralegals.
  • Properly and consistently document all events and communications.
  • Submit invoices in a timely manner, adhering to firm policy.
  • Manage and meet deadlines for statutes of limitations (SOLs) and other filings under attorney supervision.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in personal injury law, focusing on auto accidents, medical malpractice, premises liability, and workers' compensation.
  • Demonstrates a caring and compassionate attitude towards clients.

  • Proven ability to assist attorneys and senior paralegals effectively.

  • Familiarity with legal software and case management systems (e.g., Salesforce Litify).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and comfort with technology.
  • Understanding of medical records and terminology.
