As a Litigation Paralegal at our fast-paced and successful plaintiff's personal injury firm, you will play a crucial role in supporting our team and clients. In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks that are essential to the management of legal cases. Your duties will include drafting and reviewing pleadings and discovery documents, maintaining client communication, and managing various aspects of case management. You will oversee the firm's legal calendar, ensuring that deadlines and case milestones are met, and you will manage legal appointments and court appearances. Additionally, you will prioritize case workloads and triage client communications via phone and email, while maintaining accurate client records in our case management system. Your case work will involve summarizing case information for both internal and client communication, drafting letters and reports, preparing legal documents for meetings and hearings, and assisting attorneys with legal research and cite-checking. You will also perform factual investigations and analyses of case issues, prepare trial binders, and coordinate trial exhibits. Effective communication with attorneys, clients, courts, and litigation support vendors will be key to your success in this position. We are looking for someone who is organized, positive, and able to communicate effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and review pleadings and discovery documents
  • Manage the firm's legal calendar deadlines and case milestones
  • Manage legal appointments, court appearances, and tasks
  • Prioritize case workload
  • Manage and triage client communications via phone and email
  • Maintain client records in the firm's case management system
  • Maintain physical and electronic client case files
  • Monitor legal fees, budgets, and project status
  • Summarize case information and files for internal and client communication
  • Draft letters, reports, and documents based on templates
  • Prepare legal documents for meetings, depositions, and hearings
  • Prepare discovery and responses for discovery demands
  • Assist attorneys in legal research and cite-checking
  • Perform factual investigation and analysis of case issues
  • Assist in all phases of case preparation including discovery and trial
  • Prepare trial binders and coordinate trial exhibits
  • Keep attorney and legal team updated on case status consistently and proactively
  • Keep clients updated on case status consistently and proactively
  • Communicate with courts, couriers, and litigation support vendors

Requirements

  • Experience as a litigation paralegal, preferably in personal injury
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Ability to learn new technology and software quickly and proficiently
  • Strong written communication skills that are consistent, detail-oriented, and professional
  • Strong verbal communication skills that are personable, customer service oriented, and proactive
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to follow set procedures and create organization when necessary
  • A patient and consistent approach to maintaining established standards, guidelines, and procedures
