About the position

As the Personal Lines Assistant Team Leader at USLI, you will lead and direct an underwriting team focused on marketing and underwriting within your assigned territory. Your primary responsibility will be to implement the department's strategic plan, ensuring effective selection and pricing of new and renewal risks. You will develop and execute a detailed marketing plan that emphasizes communication and drives submission activity, ensuring that your team is fully engaged in promoting our services and capabilities. In this role, you will support the Personal Lines Product Team Leader by guiding the underwriting staff in all marketing and underwriting matters. You will underwrite new business submissions in accordance with established guidelines and delegated authority, providing direction through regular meetings and communications to ensure that each team member is well-versed in our underwriting standards. Additionally, you will conduct quarterly audits of underwriting files to verify compliance and maintain high standards of performance. Building and maintaining positive relationships with customers is crucial, and you will be responsible for implementing an annual marketing plan that maximizes business production. You will lead your team in processing customer requests efficiently, ensuring that all quotes, endorsements, and audits are handled within the necessary timeframes to meet service standards. Your role will also involve evaluating production metrics for each state and adjusting marketing strategies accordingly. As a leader, you will participate in the recruitment of new underwriting candidates and provide ongoing feedback to your team members regarding their performance. You will establish and monitor Individual Development Plans for each underwriter, ensuring that they have the resources and support needed for professional growth. You will set a daily example of accountability and commitment to community goals, reinforcing the importance of teamwork and collaboration. Continuous professional development is a key aspect of this position, and you will be expected to enroll in and complete relevant continuing education programs as outlined in your training and development plan.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 5+ years of underwriting experience required.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • College degree or equivalent experience required.

  • CPCU, ASLI, RPLU, INS or other related coursework preferred.
