About the position

As a Personal Shopper at Brookshire Grocery Company, you will play a crucial role in preparing online customer orders by selecting high-quality products with both speed and accuracy. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that customers receive their orders in a timely manner while providing exceptional customer service. You will need to stay informed about product selections and standards to maintain the quality and freshness of the orders. This position requires a commitment to customer satisfaction and a proactive approach to problem-solving, especially when it comes to identifying out-of-stock items and recommending suitable substitutions. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately selecting products from shelves, organizing them for order pick-up, and ensuring that checkout totals are correct by weighing, keying, and scanning items properly. You will also need to maintain a friendly and customer-service-oriented attitude, assisting customers with their online orders, answering questions, and addressing any complaints they may have. Additionally, you will be expected to keep your knowledge up to date regarding product codes, promotional items, and tender policies related to various payment methods. Safety and sanitation are paramount in this position, as you will be required to maintain a clean workspace, handle products carefully to avoid damage, and ensure that food items are stored at the proper temperatures. You will also have the opportunity to promote product sales through suggestive selling initiatives, contributing to the overall success of the store.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares online customer orders by accurately selecting products from shelves.
  • Identifies item out-of-stocks and recommends substitutions of similar value.
  • Ensures accurate checkout totals for customers by weighing, keying, and scanning items.
  • Remains current on product knowledge and food safety standards to ensure quality and freshness of orders.
  • Organizes, bags, and loads orders into customer vehicles.
  • Maintains a friendly and customer-service-oriented attitude by assisting customers with online orders.
  • Accesses or memorizes product codes and remains familiar with ad and special items.
  • Remains current on tender policies and procedures related to various payment methods.
  • Takes precautions when handling objects to avoid damage to products and property.
  • Maintains a safe and sanitary working and shopping environment.

Requirements

  • Six or more months of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Minimum of 16 years of age required; 21 years of age required in Louisiana.
  • TABC/LACT certification required where applicable.
  • Basic knowledge of cash register operations.
  • Basic mathematical and counting skills.
  • Basic knowledge of food quality standards.
  • Basic knowledge of temperature and refrigeration standards for selected products.
  • Ability to determine ideal ripeness in produce.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form with customers and partners.
  • Ability to remain courteous with customers at all times.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to learn new technology systems, methods, and processes.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
