As a Personal Shopper at Brookshire Grocery Company, you will play a crucial role in preparing online customer orders by selecting quality products with speed and accuracy. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that customers receive their orders in a timely manner while maintaining high standards of customer service. You will be expected to stay current on product selection and standards, which is essential for providing an excellent shopping experience. In this role, you will prepare orders received online by accurately selecting products from shelves and organizing them for order pick-up. You will also identify out-of-stock items, recommend suitable substitutions, and promote advertised specials to enhance customer satisfaction. Ensuring accurate checkout totals is vital, which involves properly weighing, keying, and scanning items. You will need to maintain knowledge of food safety standards to guarantee the quality and freshness of orders, placing them in storage at the correct temperature and retrieving them promptly for customers. Your responsibilities will also include organizing, bagging, and loading orders into customer vehicles while maintaining a friendly and customer-service-oriented attitude. You will assist customers with their online orders, answer questions, respond to complaints, and provide substitution options as needed. Familiarity with product codes and promotional items is essential, as is adherence to tender policies related to various payment methods. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary working environment, which includes cleaning your workspace and addressing any spills or breakages promptly. To succeed in this position, you will need to utilize suggestive selling initiatives to promote product sales and ensure a positive shopping experience for customers. This role requires flexibility in scheduling, including the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepares online customer orders by accurately selecting products from shelves.
• Identifies item out-of-stocks and recommends substitutions of similar value.
• Ensures accurate checkout totals for customers by properly weighing, keying, and scanning items.
• Remains current on product knowledge and food safety standards to ensure quality and freshness of orders.
• Places orders in storage at proper food temperature and retrieves them promptly for customers.
• Organizes, bags, and loads orders into customer vehicles.
• Maintains a friendly and customer-service-oriented attitude by assisting customers with online orders.
• Accesses or memorizes product codes and remains familiar with ad and special items.
• Remains current on tender policies and procedures related to various payment methods.
• Takes precautions when handling objects to avoid damage to products and property.
• Maintains a safe and sanitary working environment by cleaning workspace and addressing spills.
• Uses suggestive selling initiatives to promote product sales.

Requirements

• Six or more months of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• Minimum of 16 years of age required; 21 years of age required in Louisiana.
• Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for Company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy.
• TABC/LACT certification required where applicable.
• Basic knowledge of cash register operations.
• Basic mathematical and counting skills.
• Basic knowledge of food quality standards.
• Basic knowledge of temperature and refrigeration standards for selected products.
• Ability to determine ideal ripeness in produce.
• Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form with customers and partners.
• Ability to remain courteous with customers at all times.
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.
• Ability to learn new technology systems, methods, and processes.
• Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
