Rumford Community Home is seeking a Personal Support Specialist (PSS) to join our team! This is a per diem position with a starting pay of $18.25 per hour. The PSS position is located within our Rumford Community Homes Long Term Care Facility in Rumford, Maine. The Personal Support Specialist assists with the overall care of residents in cooperation with other facility staff as assigned by the charge person or Director of Clinical Services. This role involves working closely with other team members to provide personal care to assigned residents as needed, ensuring a safe, homelike, and comfortable environment for the residents. The PSS will demonstrate competency in various areas, including assisting nurses with personal needs such as bathing, daily hygiene, toileting, and repositioning residents. The role also includes setting up and monitoring prescribed diets during meal times, assisting residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), and encouraging residents to achieve maximum ambulation following physical therapy instructions. The PSS will be responsible for applying anti-embolic stockings, assisting with bowel and bladder retraining, and caring for prosthetic devices. Daily charting of care provided is also a critical responsibility, along with maintaining standard precautions and assisting with personal care tasks.
