About the position
The Bather position at The Smiling Dog involves a variety of tasks centered around the care and grooming of pets, particularly dogs and cats. In addition to grooming duties, the Bather may also assist in the boarding and reception areas, which necessitates comfort in handling large groups of dogs and interacting with clients. The responsibilities will start small and gradually increase as the individual learns the strict systems and processes in place to ensure the safety and well-being of all pets in the salon's care. The successful candidate will be trained thoroughly, and prior experience with animal handling is a plus, although not mandatory. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to lift at least 50 pounds. They must also be free from allergies that could interfere with their work and be comfortable working with pets of all sizes, breeds, and abilities. The position requires availability on weekends and holidays, as the salon operates from Tuesday to Saturday.
