About the position

The Groomer position at PetSuites is a commission-based role focused on providing high-quality grooming services for pets. The role emphasizes a culture of compassion and professionalism, ensuring that pets receive care that meets their physical and emotional needs. Groomers are expected to interact positively with both pets and their owners, maintaining a clean and safe environment while delivering exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide an overall positive experience for the pets during grooming, ensuring compassion, gentleness, reassurance, safety, and comfort.
  • Ensure all guests are groomed or bathed to the parent's specifications and complete grooms/baths on time.
  • Work with Resort Hosts to schedule grooming appointments and discuss vaccination protocols with clients.
  • Meet and greet grooming clients to discuss grooming instructions after assessing the dog's coat and condition.
  • Communicate with clients post-grooming to provide results and report cards.
  • Suggest additional services that would benefit the client and grow the business by rescheduling appointments.
  • Resolve customer service issues to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Maintain grooming tools and ensure they are safe for use.
  • Keep the grooming area clean and sanitary, following the resort's cleaning standards.
  • Monitor guest health during grooming and report any concerns to the manager and pet parent.
  • Ensure guests have water and bathroom breaks if with you for over 2 hours.
  • Follow safety standards when handling pets, especially aggressive ones.
  • Adhere to pricing guidelines and get prior approval for any additional costs.
  • Effectively communicate with pet care staff about guests in your care.

Requirements

  • Experience grooming or bathing all breeds of dogs and cats.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under conditions requiring physical activity such as sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, and grasping.
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to manage difficult customer situations.
  • Reliable, punctual, and dependable with a cheerful, positive attitude.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional Grooming Certifications preferred but not required.
  • Two to four years of professional grooming experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of individual breed standards and breed cuts.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
