About the position

RAYUS Radiology is looking for a PET Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team. We are challenging the status quo by shining the light on radiology and making it a critical first step in diagnosis and proper treatment. Come join us and shine brighter together! As a PET Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will operate equipment (Gamma cameras) to create images of areas of a patient's body. Prepare radioactive drugs and administer them to the patient, usually through an intravenous line. The radioactive materials cause abnormal areas of the body to appear differently from normal areas in the acquired images. Prepare the exam for analysis through post processing and image enhancement. Ensure safety of both patient and staff by strictly adhering to all state and federal guidelines. This position is a part time position, working 30-39 hours a week 7:00am - 5:00pm.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high quality diagnostic studies according to RAYUS protocols.
  • Explain tests being performed to patients and answer questions.
  • Proficiently perform all Nuclear and PET studies, including administration of radio pharmaceuticals in proper dosage.
  • Aid the interpreting physician in identifying underlying pathology and abnormalities.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of the Syntrac system for ordering isotopes for scheduled exams.
  • Understand and maintain good practice in the disposal of sharps and biohazardous waste, as well as handling radioactive materials.
  • Correlate the accuracy of prescriptions and their clinical indications.
  • Independently operate and adjust Nuclear cameras and PET/CT equipment to produce high quality diagnostic images.
  • Maintain a busy schedule scanning large volumes of patients and multi-task effectively.
  • Run daily and weekly quality control to maintain equipment accuracy and functionality.
  • Provide detailed patient medical history.
  • Work professionally with co-workers as a team.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of RAYUS' RIS, PACS, Intergy computer systems and daily workflow.
  • Participate in the maintenance of ACR accreditation when needed.
  • Report all equipment malfunctions.
  • Keep the room clean and stocked with essential supplies.

Requirements

  • Certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in performing Nuclear and PET studies.
  • Knowledge of Syntrac system for isotope ordering.
  • Understanding of safety protocols for radioactive materials.
  • Ability to operate Nuclear cameras and PET/CT equipment independently.
