About the position

As the Director of Data Governance - Data Trustee at PGIM Real Estate, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our data management practices within the investment industry. This position is designed for individuals with extensive experience in data governance and analytics, particularly in the financial services sector. You will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of a global real estate equity data platform, ensuring that our data governance framework is robust and effective. Your primary focus will be on collaborating with various business stakeholders, including those in Asset Management, Fund Operations, Portfolio Management, and Data Management, to define and maintain a comprehensive asset-level data model that meets the evolving information needs of the business. In this role, you will solicit input from key stakeholders to identify essential data objects, attributes, definitions, and validation rules that will be implemented across the platform. You will also establish and monitor key metrics to measure data quality and track progress, ensuring that the integrity of the data model is preserved from source to destination. Your ability to navigate discussions with both business users and technical teams will be crucial as you work to build the defined data model into a new cloud-based backend in an agile manner, prioritizing tasks effectively. Additionally, you will be responsible for communicating the data model's progress to the organization, utilizing your SQL and data analytics capabilities to curate and present asset data to users in a manner that meets their needs. This position reports directly to the Chief Product Owner for Equity, and while it is primarily remote, you will be required to travel to our Newark office at least four times a year based on business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of a global real estate equity data platform.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to define and maintain a robust asset-level data model.
  • Solicit input from key stakeholders to determine data objects, attributes, definitions, and validation rules.
  • Establish and monitor key metrics to measure data quality and track progress.
  • Coordinate with data source owners to implement the defined data model in their processes.
  • Communicate the data model's progress to the organization and present it strategically.
  • Utilize SQL and data analytics capabilities to curate and present asset data to users.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience with data governance, data dictionaries, and validation rules in the financial services sector.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to drive stakeholder interaction and capture user needs.
  • Strong execution skills and attention to detail.
  • Professional and energetic self-starter with the ability to multitask without sacrificing quality.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to translate conceptual ideas into practical solutions.
  • Familiarity with agile frameworks and methodologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Real Estate Equity data analytics and/or accounting.
  • Knowledge of real estate datasets and sources common in investment management firms.
  • Highly proficient with Excel and SQL with extensive data analysis experience.
