About the position

The position involves setting up and managing a cost control system for contracts at Newport News Shipbuilding, ensuring compliance with government cost control guidelines. The role includes preparing budgets, schedules, and financial analyses, as well as performing risk assessments to mitigate cost and scheduling risks. This position directly supports the CVN 80/81 New Construction Carrier contract and requires a strong background in finance and project management.

Responsibilities

• Set up cost control system and monitor costs and schedules on contracts.
• Perform analyses and prepare reports to ensure contracts are within negotiated parameters.
• Prepare budgets and schedules for contract work.
• Assist in financial analyses such as funding profiles and variance analysis.
• Prepare program plans to capture and schedule program requirements.
• Perform schedule risk assessments to identify and mitigate risks.
• Maintain accurate records of expenditures and direct preparation of expenditure projections.
• Submit timely requests for additional funding to the government.
• Incorporate contractual changes into control systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of relevant exempt experience; or Master's Degree and 1 year of relevant professional experience.
• Equivalent qualifications may include NNS Apprentice School graduate, Navy Nuclear Power School graduate, or relevant military experience.
