About the position

Air Products is seeking a Ph.D. Chemical Engineer to join their PhD Career Development Program (PhD CDP), which involves three unique 1-year assignments in R&D, Engineering, and/or Plant Operations. This role aims to create immediate business impact while developing a strong professional network within the company. The program is designed for candidates who have a solid foundation in traditional engineering skills, complemented by experimental, computational, and theoretical knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Participate in three unique 1-year assignments in R&D, Engineering, and/or Plant Operations.
• Engage in process design and analysis using data-driven methodologies.
• Conduct process modeling, simulation, and optimization.
• Investigate transport processes and reaction engineering.
• Explore separation technologies including distillation and adsorption.
• Apply data sciences, machine learning, and AI in industrial applications.
• Contribute to renewable energy projects and fluid mechanics studies.

Requirements

• B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.
• Completion of Ph.D. studies and defense between May/June 2023 and September 2025.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in experimental investigations at laboratory or pilot plant scale.
• Familiarity with commercial scale applications in industrial gas sectors.
