The Associate Chief, Inpatient Services, (ACIS) Pharmacy Service (PS) must be a licensed pharmacist and is the inpatient and residential operational and clinical practice, informatics, and research consultant for the Chief, Pharmacy Service. The incumbent ACIS plans, directs, and coordinates comprehensive pharmacy activities with the Chief and Associate Chiefs, Pharmacy Service at the Southern Arizona VA Medical System (SAVAHCS) and seven associated Community Based Outpatient Clinics. The ACIS is responsible for serving in an acting capacity for the Chief, Pharmacy Service as well as the Associate Chief, Pharmacy positions. The ACIS is responsible for operational and clinical services for inpatient and residential programs and provides support to all acute and specialty medical programs such as medical and surgical intensive care unit, mental health, Southwest Blind Rehabilitation Center, research, hospice, and Community Living Center. The PS offers a full range of pharmaceutical and clinical services including but not limited to decentralized unit dose dispensing, IV admixture program (USP 797/800 compliant), parenteral nutrition service, and disease state management.
