About the position

The Pharmacist Clinical Specialist - Oncology at Essentia Health is responsible for providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care, focusing on both pediatric and adult medicine. This role involves developing and maintaining medication systems, educating healthcare personnel, and participating in drug therapy programs. The specialist may also oversee pharmacy residency programs and coordinate pharmacy students' rotations, demonstrating leadership through administrative activities and committee involvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, safe, and efficient pharmaceutical care.
• Develop and maintain medication ordering, dispensing, and delivery systems for patients.
• Educate pharmacists, pharmacy residents, pharmacy students, and other healthcare personnel.
• Participate in medication use evaluations, policies, guidelines, and formulary management.
• Act as a pharmacy residency program director and coordinate pharmacy students' learning rotations.
• Demonstrate leadership through administrative activities and committee membership.

Requirements

• Graduate of a college of pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (M.S. or PharmD degree required).
• Completion of an ASHP-Accredited Hospital Residency, board certification training program, or equivalent clinical experience.
• Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the Board of Pharmacy in the working state.

Nice-to-haves

• Currently a Board-Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP) in good standing or eligible to become within 1 year of hire.
• Post graduate year 2 residency experience or similar experience.
• Three years clinical experience in oncology or infusion practice.
• Experience in pharmaceutical care surrounding chemotherapy and biologicals.
• Familiarity with creating and maintaining treatment protocols.
• Evidence of involvement in residency and learner program support and management.
