About the position

The Pharmacist at Walgreens is responsible for providing pharmacy consulting services, ensuring the effective usage of medications, and offering preventive and clinical healthcare services. This role involves compounding, dispensing, and verifying prescribed medications while adhering to regulatory guidelines and company policies. The pharmacist also plays a key role in enhancing patient experience and optimizing pharmacy operations, including financial management and inventory control.

Responsibilities

  • Engage patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve patient issues in a timely manner and answer questions to ensure a positive patient experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Connect with patients by anticipating needs and proactively offering services.
  • Counsel patients regarding medication usage, side effects, and interactions.
  • Perform pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, and medication management.
  • Ensure the pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain current knowledge of pharmacy systems and technology.
  • Ensure accurate processing of insurance claims and follow up with providers.
  • Perform clinical and wellness services such as immunizations and diagnostic testing.
  • Assist the pharmacy manager in analyzing performance data and inventory management.
  • Develop and maintain connections with the local medical community.
  • Assist in staff hiring and training, and provide performance feedback.
  • Maintain current knowledge and required licensing for clinical services.

Requirements

  • BS in Pharmacy or Pharmacist Degree from an accredited educational institution.
  • Current pharmacist licensure in the states within the district.
  • Experience performing prescription dispensing activities with knowledge of state and federal controlled substance laws.
  • Certified Immunizer or willing to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least 1 year experience as a pharmacist in a retail setting including prescription filling and verification.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy operations, software, and insurance processes.
