About the position

The Pharmacist at Walgreens is responsible for providing pharmacy consulting services, ensuring the effective usage of medications, and enhancing patient experiences through various healthcare services. This role involves compounding, dispensing, and verifying prescribed medications while adhering to regulatory guidelines and company policies. The pharmacist also supports pharmacy operations, assists in financial optimization, and engages with the local medical community to promote health services.

Responsibilities

  • Engage patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve patient issues in a timely manner and answer questions to ensure a positive patient experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Connect with patients by anticipating needs and proactively offering services.
  • Counsel patients regarding usage of medicine, side effects, interactions, and privacy.
  • Perform pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, and medication management.
  • Review, interpret, and accurately dispense prescribed medications.
  • Ensure the pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations and company policies.
  • Assist pharmacy manager in establishing efficient workflow procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of pharmacy systems and technology.
  • Ensure accurate processing of insurance claims and follow up with providers.
  • Perform clinical and wellness services such as immunizations and diagnostic testing.
  • Assist pharmacy manager in analyzing performance data and inventory management.
  • Develop connections with local medical community and participate in outreach activities.
  • Support patient registration and resolve patient issues in virtual environments.
  • Assist Pharmacy Manager with staff hiring and training.
  • Promote teamwork and motivate team members.
  • Maintain current knowledge and required licensing/credentialing/certification.
  • Seek professional development and monitor performance.
  • Communicate relevant corporate health and wellness services to pharmacy staff.

Requirements

  • BS in Pharmacy or Pharmacist Degree from an accredited educational institution.
  • Current pharmacist licensure in the states within the district.
  • Experience performing prescription dispensing activities with knowledge of state and federal controlled substance laws.
  • Certified Immunizer or willing to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least 1 year experience as a pharmacist in a retail setting including prescription filling and verification.
  • Experience with pharmacy operations, software, and insurance systems.
