About the position

The Pharmacist at Walgreens is responsible for providing pharmacy consulting services, ensuring the effective usage of medications, and enhancing patient care through various healthcare services. This role involves compounding, dispensing, and verifying medications while adhering to regulatory guidelines and company policies. The pharmacist also plays a key role in optimizing pharmacy operations, improving patient experiences, and supporting the pharmacy manager in various operational tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Engage patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve patient issues in a timely manner and answer questions to ensure a positive patient experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Connect with patients by anticipating needs and proactively offering services.
  • Counsel patients regarding medication usage, side effects, and interactions.
  • Perform pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, and medication management.
  • Ensure the pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations and company policies.
  • Assist pharmacy manager in establishing efficient workflow procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of pharmacy systems and technology to support staff and patients.
  • Process insurance claims accurately and resolve patient issues.
  • Perform clinical and wellness services such as immunizations and diagnostic testing.
  • Assist in analyzing performance data related to pharmacy operations.
  • Develop connections with the local medical community and participate in outreach activities.
  • Support the Pharmacy Manager in staff hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Maintain current knowledge and required licensing for clinical services.
  • Communicate relevant health and wellness information to pharmacy staff.

Requirements

  • BS in Pharmacy or Pharmacist Degree from an accredited educational institution.
  • Current pharmacist licensure in the states within the district.
  • Experience performing prescription dispensing activities with knowledge of state and federal controlled substance laws.
  • Certified Immunizer or willing to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least 1 year experience as a pharmacist in a retail setting including prescription filling and verification.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy operations, software, and insurance processes.
