About the position

The Pharmacist position at Walgreens involves providing pharmacy consulting services with empathy to patients, ensuring the effective usage of medications, and being aware of drug interactions. The role includes offering preventive and clinical healthcare services, managing the compounding and dispensation of medications, and supporting the pharmacy's operational efficiency. The pharmacist will also engage with patients to enhance their experience and promote healthcare services, while assisting the pharmacy manager in optimizing financials and inventory management.

Responsibilities

  • Engage patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve patient issues in a timely manner and answer questions to ensure a positive patient experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Connect with patients by anticipating needs and proactively offering services.
  • Support efforts to enhance patient experience by increasing awareness of healthcare services offered through Walgreens.
  • Participate in events that reflect the unique communities served as requested by management.
  • Counsel patients on medication usage, side effects, interactions, and privacy.
  • Perform pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, and medication management.
  • Ensure the pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations and company policies.
  • Assist pharmacy manager with establishing efficient workflow procedures.
  • Responsible for the opening and closing of the pharmacy and shift change duties.
  • Maintain knowledge of pharmacy systems and support patients and staff.
  • Ensure accurate processing of insurance claims and follow up with providers.
  • Perform clinical and wellness services such as immunizations and diagnostic testing.
  • Assist pharmacy manager in analyzing performance data and implementing procedures.
  • Develop connections with local medical community and participate in outreach activities.
  • Support centralized patient registration and issue resolution.
  • Conduct virtual product reviews following company procedures.
  • Assist Pharmacy Manager with staff hiring and training.
  • Reinforce direction of Pharmacy Manager in staff performance and development.
  • Maintain current knowledge and required licensing for clinical services.
  • Communicate relevant corporate health and wellness information to pharmacy staff.

Requirements

  • BS in Pharmacy or Pharmacist Degree from an accredited educational institution.
  • Current pharmacist licensure in the states within the district.
  • Experience performing prescription dispensing activities with knowledge of state and federal controlled substance laws.
  • Certified Immunizer or willing to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least 1 year experience as a pharmacist in a retail setting including prescription filling and verification.
  • Experience with pharmacy operations, software, and insurance systems.
