About the position

The Pharmacist at Walgreens is responsible for providing pharmacy consulting services, ensuring the effective usage of medications, and enhancing patient experiences through various healthcare services. This role involves compounding, dispensing, and verifying medications while adhering to regulatory guidelines and company policies. The pharmacist also supports pharmacy operations, assists in financial optimization, and engages with the local medical community to promote health services.

Responsibilities

• Engage patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Resolve patient issues in a timely manner and answer questions to ensure a positive patient experience.
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
• Connect with patients by anticipating needs and proactively offering services.
• Participate in community events as requested by management.
• Counsel patients on medication usage, side effects, and interactions.
• Perform pharmacist tasks including compounding and medication management.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and company policies in pharmacy operations.
• Maintain knowledge of pharmacy systems and technology.
• Process insurance claims and resolve patient issues related to payments.
• Perform clinical services such as immunizations and diagnostic testing.
• Assist pharmacy manager in analyzing performance data and inventory management.
• Develop connections with local healthcare providers and participate in outreach activities.
• Support centralized patient registration and issue resolution.
• Assist in staff hiring and training, and provide performance feedback.
• Promote teamwork and motivate team members.
• Maintain current knowledge and required licensing for clinical services.
• Seek professional development and training opportunities.
• Communicate corporate health and wellness information to pharmacy staff.

Requirements

• BS in Pharmacy or Pharmacist Degree from an accredited educational institution.
• Current pharmacist licensure in the states within the district.
• Experience performing prescription dispensing activities with knowledge of state and federal controlled substance laws.
• Certified Immunizer or willing to become certified within 90 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves

• At least 1 year experience as a pharmacist in a retail setting including prescription filling and verification.
• Familiarity with pharmacy operations, software, and insurance processes.
