About the position

As a Pharmacist at Walgreens, you will provide pharmacy consulting services with empathy to patients, ensuring they understand the effective usage of medications and are aware of potential drug interactions. Your role will encompass offering preventive and clinical healthcare services, including immunizations, diagnostic testing, and patient outcomes services. You will be responsible for the proper compounding, dispensation, review, and verification of prescribed medications, all while adhering to regulatory guidelines and company policies. Additionally, you will support the efficient workflow of the pharmacy and assist the pharmacy manager in identifying ways to optimize pharmacy financials, manage inventory, and enhance the overall patient experience. In your daily responsibilities, you will engage with patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services, resolving any issues they may have in a timely manner. You will model and share customer service best practices with your team to ensure a distinctive and joyful experience for all customers. By anticipating patient needs and proactively offering services, you will help shift the pharmacy role from transactional to interpersonal, enhancing the patient experience through increased awareness of healthcare services offered by Walgreens. Your operational duties will include counseling patients on medication usage, side effects, interactions, and privacy concerns. You will perform essential pharmacist tasks such as compounding, drug therapy reviews, and medication management. You will also ensure compliance with regulations and company standards, assist in establishing efficient pharmacy procedures, and maintain knowledge of pharmacy systems and technology to support both patients and staff. Furthermore, you will be responsible for the accurate processing of insurance claims and follow-ups with medical providers to clarify prescriptions and address any patient concerns. In addition to your clinical responsibilities, you will assist the pharmacy manager in analyzing performance data and developing connections with the local medical community. You will participate in community outreach activities to promote the pharmacy business and enhance growth opportunities. Your role will also involve supporting the pharmacy manager in staff hiring and training, promoting teamwork, and fostering team member development. Continuous personal and professional development will be essential, as you will need to maintain current knowledge and required licensing as established by federal and state regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Pharmacy Manager and Store Manager by communicating relevant information to pharmacy staff.

Requirements

  • BS in Pharmacy or Pharmacist Degree from an accredited educational institution.
  • Current pharmacist licensure in the states within the district.
  • Experience performing prescription dispensing activities with knowledge of state and federal controlled substance laws.
  • Certified Immunizer or willing to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least 1 year experience as a pharmacist in a retail setting including prescription filling and verification.
  • Experience with pharmacy operations, pharmacy software, and insurance processes.
