About the position

The Pharmacist PRN position at Select Medical Rehabilitation Hospital in Oklahoma City involves providing pharmaceutical services under the supervision of the Director. The role focuses on ensuring accurate medication dispensing, consulting with healthcare professionals, and participating in clinical activities to enhance patient care and outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Have a working knowledge of all areas of pharmaceutical services provided by the hospital, including drug distribution systems, central operations, and IV admixture.
  • Perform all dispensing related functions, including entering medication orders into the computer, preparing, labeling, and dispensing medications according to prescriptions.
  • Compound oral and injectable pharmaceutical preparations using proper aseptic technique.
  • Fill and check medication cassettes for accuracy prior to delivery to patient care units.
  • Prepare weekend and day pass medications for patients on leave from the hospital.
  • Contact and confer with physicians regarding questions or irregularities in medication orders, documenting all recommendations and corrective actions in clinical intervention reports.
  • Perform antibiotic stewardship activities by reviewing culture and sensitivity information and laboratory data to make therapeutic recommendations.
  • Participate in clinical activities such as attending Team Conferences, participating in patient rounds, and conducting medication management teaching.
  • Mentor pharmacy students during their rotations and process drug information inquiries.
  • Consult with physician and nursing staff about drug availability, forms, side effects, and incompatibilities, maintaining a drug literature source for professional staff.

Requirements

  • Current state licensure as a Pharmacist required.
  • One or more years of experience in hospital pharmacy preferred.
