About the position

The Pharmacist position at Columbus Springs Dublin involves providing essential pharmaceutical care within a behavioral health setting. The role focuses on ensuring safe and effective medication management for patients, participating in educational initiatives, and collaborating with healthcare staff to enhance patient outcomes. This position is PRN (as needed), allowing for flexible scheduling while maintaining high standards of patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Fills orders with correct medication and checks support staff accuracy prior to medication release.
  • Prioritizes work to prepare STAT, Now, and Waiting orders in order of importance.
  • Reviews patient profiles to ensure appropriate and safe drug therapy, preventing therapeutic duplication and significant drug interactions.
  • Participates in the maintenance and dissemination of drug information through in-service education of hospital personnel and consultations with patients and medical staff.
  • Assists other Pharmacists and Technicians in routine duties and provides professional guidance to Pharmacy personnel.
  • Prepares unit of use dosage when possible and keeps the Director informed of workload status and potential problems.
  • Maintains competence in treating patients across all age groups: Pediatric, Adult, and Geriatric.
  • Generates required reports and performs backup procedures correctly.
  • Assists Technicians in performing technical tasks and ensures temperature and environmental monitoring logs are maintained appropriately.
  • Keeps current on new drugs and serves as on-call pharmacist as scheduled, returning to the hospital for urgent situations.
  • Maintains security of the Pharmacy and controlled substances, performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with a Pharmacist degree.
  • Current state license in good standing.
  • Minimum of three (3) months of experience in pharmacy.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, JCAHO, HCFA, and state guidelines.
  • Experience in facilitating teams and writing policies and procedures.
