About the position

The Pharmacist Supervisor in the Pediatric Pharmacy is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the pharmacy unit, ensuring quality pharmaceutical care, and supervising pharmacy staff. This role involves coordinating staff performance evaluations, managing work schedules, and maintaining compliance with departmental policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct supervision of the staff Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Coordinates performance evaluations, counsels employees, and participates in the employment process.
  • Prepares work schedules and coordinates resolution of day-to-day unexpected scheduling changes.
  • Performs duties of a staff Pharmacist.
  • Monitors the operation of assigned unit(s) in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures, taking corrective actions as needed.
  • Communicates with physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals to ensure quality service and resolve problems.
  • Assists with the Controlled Dangerous Substances audit trail review as needed.
  • Ensures that Pharmacy-based inventory records are completed and accurate at all times.
  • Coordinates filing of security reports and reconciles discrepancies.
  • Monitors completion of quality control logs for medication refrigeration units, laminar flow hoods, and biological safety cabinets.
  • Conducts performance counseling and evaluations.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited pharmacy degree program.
  • One (1) year of experience as a registered Pharmacist in a supervisory position in a hospital setting preferred.
  • Licensed as a Doctor of Pharmacy by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Certificate as a preceptor by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy when eligible.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy procedures and principles.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical drugs and usage.
  • Proficient in intravenous admixture.
  • Ability to stay current with changes in the industry and current drug information.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Ability to effectively supervise staff.
