About The Position

This position is for a pharmacist within the federal system, specifically targeting locations in Chinle, AZ; Inscription House, AZ; Kayenta, AZ; Pinon, AZ; Red Mesa, AZ; Tsaile, AZ; Bloomfield, NM; Crownpoint, NM; Gallup, NM; Shiprock, NM; and Tohatchi, NM. The role requires a doctoral degree in Pharmacy recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an equivalent accrediting body. Applicants must be licensed to practice pharmacy in a relevant jurisdiction and must meet specific medical requirements, including the ability to distinguish basic colors. The position is open for applications from March 25, 2024, to January 31, 2025, and is classified as an Open Continuous Announcement, meaning applicants will be referred as vacancies occur.

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree in Pharmacy recognized by the ACPE or an equivalent accrediting body.
  • Licensed to practice pharmacy in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • Ability to distinguish basic colors.
  • For GS-11 level: Three years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree, Pharm.D. or equivalent.
  • For GS-12 level: One year of professional pharmacy experience in addition to GS-11 requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Dispensing medications prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners.
  • Providing information to health practitioners and patients about proper usage of medications and side effects.
  • Evaluating medication use patterns and outcomes for patients in hospitals or managed care organizations.
  • Performing administrative, consultative, or staff advisory work for a medical facility's pharmacy program.
  • Planning, monitoring, and evaluating medication programs or regimens.
  • Establishing medication-handling procedures for the storage and preservation of medications.
  • Researching medical literature and/or clinical medication information to provide accurate responses to inquiries.
  • Maintaining all medication records required by law.
