About the position

Under general supervision, provides customer-focused pharmaceutical care and oversees the efficient dispensing, processing, and recording of prescriptions issued by physicians, dentists, and other authorized providers.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with providers to influence optimal drug therapy in accordance with approved protocols and current practice.
  • Reviews, compounds, prepares and/or oversees the compounding, preparation and dispensing of pharmaceuticals to patients.
  • Monitors patients' drug therapy and provides drug information to patients and health care providers.
  • Oversees and directs pharmacy staff in the execution of technical functions.
  • Using computerized data system, records prescriptions, checks for drug interactions.
  • Verifies all drugs are labeled properly, including the addition of auxiliary labels.
  • Ensures that only a pharmacist (or authorized pharmacy personnel under the direction and supervision of the pharmacist), dispenses medications, makes label changes or transfers to different containers.
  • Ensures that all functions of the pharmacy are maintained and carried out.
  • Upholds and abides by patient confidentiality policies and procedures.
  • Actively participates in agency-sponsored staff training events (safety instruction, evacuation drills, OSHA training, etc.)
  • Aids in ordering and purchasing pharmaceuticals, pharmaceutical supplies, and medical supplies; as well as ensuring appropriate stock and storage requirements.
  • Communicates with pharmacy director as needed to ensure department functions appropriately.
  • Maintains professional appearance; follows established dress code.
  • Participates in continuing compliance with HRSA 340B regulations and requirements.
  • Assists in departmental audits in conjunction with Pharmacist in Charge, Director of Pharmacy, and Compliance Officer.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree from accredited College of Pharmacy
  • Doctor of Pharmacy License from Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy in good standing
