About the position

The Pharmacy Automation Specialist at Chippenham Hospital plays a crucial role in managing pharmacy automation systems, ensuring efficient data analysis, and supporting the pharmacy's service to nursing staff. This position involves troubleshooting automation issues, developing educational materials, and maintaining accurate drug files, all while adhering to the hospital's mission and values.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts hardware/software analysis and coordinates resolution to problems with pharmacy automation systems.
  • Troubleshoots issues with automated dispensing cabinets and computer system downtimes.
  • Develops and conducts education related to automation software and hardware upgrades.
  • Creates user instruction materials and trains pharmacists and technicians on automated dispensing cabinets.
  • Develops and administers competencies for pharmacy employees on automation use.
  • Maintains accurate drug files in automation systems in coordination with pharmacy staff.
  • Provides updates for Policies & Procedures manual related to automation.
  • Facilitates and tests software/hardware upgrades and automated dispensing cabinet implementations.
  • Monitors automated dispensing cabinets for integrity and functionality.
  • Generates data and assists in data analysis and presentations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate or Bachelor degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or similar preferred.
  • At least 4 years of experience as a hospital pharmacy technician required.
  • 4 years hospital pharmacy tech plus 2 years IT&S experience preferred.
  • Computer background in clinical healthcare field or equivalent experience required.
  • Active board certification - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required.
  • Registered pharmacy technician in good standing with the appropriate State Board of Pharmacy.
