About the position

The Pharmacy Business Analyst & Tech Supervisor at Blanchard Valley Hospital is responsible for leading and supervising the pharmacy technician group while performing essential pharmacy technician duties. This role combines supervisory functions with hands-on pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and enhancing departmental performance through project management and performance improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all functions of pharmacy technicians including IV preparation, chemotherapy preparation, and outpatient pharmacy activities.
  • Handle human resource functions for the technician group, including payroll, scheduling, performance reviews, and disciplinary issues.
  • Utilize project management skills to implement new systems within the department.
  • Apply performance improvement tools like LEAN to enhance pharmacy department performance and lead safety initiatives.
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and tasks related to medication safety and potential medication diversion under a licensed pharmacist's discretion.
  • Perform pharmacy business functions and analysis, including inventory control and purchasing review, and work with pharmacy leadership to implement new systems.
  • Provide strong leadership and act as a role model for associates, delivering exceptional service excellence.
  • Participate in departmental and organizational committees as directed by the pharmacy director.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office and Meditech to evaluate departmental performance and meet regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in a business-related field or actively pursuing a bachelor's degree in a business-related field.
  • Certification by the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPhT) or equivalent as determined by the pharmacy director.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a pharmacy technician or equivalent healthcare experience.
  • Ability to perform all pharmacy technician functions, including IV and chemotherapy preparation.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office and Meditech.
  • Project management, business analysis, and performance improvement skills.
  • Self-directed, detail-oriented, with leadership skills that promote a positive work environment.
  • Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
