About the position

The Pharmacy Cashier role at Walgreens focuses on delivering exceptional customer service while managing sales transactions. This part-time position involves engaging with customers, assisting them with their needs, and ensuring a pleasant shopping experience. The cashier is responsible for operating the cash register, handling transactions, and maintaining store cleanliness and organization.

Responsibilities

  • Models and delivers a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
  • Registers sales on assigned cash register and provides courteous, fair, friendly, and efficient checkout service.
  • Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolves customer issues and answers questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Models and shares customer service best practices with team members.
  • Develops strong relationships with valuable customers.
  • Processes customer purchases, collects cash, and distributes change as requested.
  • Handles voids, returns, rain checks, refunds, and exchanges as needed.
  • Recommends items for sale and assists with OTC products.
  • Operates pharmacy systems to obtain patient prescription status.
  • Reports prescription errors to the pharmacist and adheres to company policies.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of counters and shelves.
  • Checks in and prices merchandise as required.
  • Implements asset protection procedures to minimize profit loss.
  • Ensures compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products.
  • Constructs and maintains displays for promotional and seasonal merchandise.
  • Assists with store maintenance to ensure a clean and orderly appearance.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures and maintains respectful relationships with coworkers.
  • Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Requires willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend hours.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.
