About the position

As a Pharmacy Certified Technician at Smith's Food and Drug, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service and health and wellness services to our patients. Your primary responsibility will be to treat customers and employees fairly and ethically, ensuring a safe, clean, and inclusive environment. You will be a responsible member of the community, providing the right products, services, and care at the right time, all while maintaining fair and accurate pricing. In this position, you will provide direct patient intervention by delivering health and wellness services that are relevant to the patient, in accordance with state and federal laws. Your role will also involve supporting the company’s health and wellness initiatives, understanding and adhering to HIPAA regulations, and maintaining current national and/or state registration, certification, or license as required. You will assist the pharmacist in various responsibilities, provide stellar customer experiences, and ensure accurate and efficient completion of all steps related to reception, data entry, adjudication, and product dispensing. Additionally, you will support the coaching and training of clerks and/or technicians, compound medications, perform post-fill audits, and complete CLIA-waived screenings as per state and federal law.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service to customers and employees.
  • Deliver health and wellness services relevant to patients as allowable by state and federal laws.
  • Assist the pharmacist in all responsibilities except those requiring professional judgment.
  • Accurately and efficiently complete all steps of reception, data entry, adjudication, and product dispensing.
  • Support the continued coaching and training of clerks and/or technicians.
  • Compound medications according to state and other regulations.
  • Perform post-fill audits to verify prescription information matches computer records.
  • Support non-dispensing services through various platforms, resources, and applications.
  • Complete all aspects of CLIA-waived screenings consistent with state and federal law as well as company policies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information.
  • Completion of national registration, certification, or licensure.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous comparable experience in a pharmacy setting.
  • Equivalent experience as a pharmacy technician.
  • Understanding of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations.
  • Current national and/or state registration, certification, or license depending on state requirements.
