About the position

As a Pharmacy Certified Technician at Smith's Food and Drug, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service and supporting the health and wellness of our community. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in delivering the right products, services, and care to our customers while ensuring fair and accurate pricing. You will be expected to provide direct patient intervention by offering health and wellness services that are compliant with state and federal laws. You will be responsible for handling highly confidential information and must maintain a current national and/or state registration, certification, or license as required. Your work will involve assisting pharmacists in various responsibilities, except those that require professional judgment, and ensuring that all pharmacy operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations. You will also be involved in coaching and training clerks and/or technicians, compounding medications according to regulations, performing post-fill audits, and supporting non-dispensing services. Additionally, you will be expected to complete CLIA-waived screenings and provide any additional health and wellness services permitted by regulatory bodies. Compliance with sanitation and safety regulations is paramount, and you will need to identify and report any unsafe conditions to store management. Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service to customers and employees.
  • Assist in delivering health and wellness services relevant to patients.
  • Handle highly confidential information responsibly.
  • Support the pharmacist in all responsibilities except those requiring professional judgment.
  • Accurately complete all steps of reception, data entry, adjudication, and product dispensing.
  • Compound medications according to state regulations.
  • Perform post-fill audits to verify prescription information against computer records.
  • Support non-dispensing services using various platforms and applications.
  • Complete CLIA-waived screenings as per state and federal law.
  • Comply with sanitation and safety regulations and report unsafe conditions to management.
  • Report any illegal activities, including robbery, theft, or fraud.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Completion of national registration, certification, or licensure as a pharmacy technician.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience as a pharmacy technician or in a similar role is preferred.
  • Understanding of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations.
  • Support for company health and wellness initiatives.
  • Ability to assist in coaching and training of clerks and/or technicians.
