About the position

As a Pharmacy Certified Technician at Smith's Food and Drug, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service and supporting the health and wellness of our community. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the pharmacist in delivering health and wellness services while ensuring compliance with state and federal laws. You will be expected to treat customers and employees fairly and ethically, creating a safe and inclusive environment. Your work will involve providing the right products, services, and care at the right time, all while maintaining fair and accurate pricing. In this position, you will engage directly with patients, providing health and wellness services that are relevant to their needs. Your role will also include maintaining confidentiality and adhering to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations. You will be responsible for supporting company health and wellness initiatives and ensuring that all pharmacy operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations. You will assist in various pharmacy tasks, including reception, data entry, adjudication, and product dispensing. Additionally, you will support the training and coaching of clerks and technicians, compound medications, perform post-fill audits, and complete CLIA-waived screenings. Your commitment to safety and sanitation will be paramount, as you will identify unsafe conditions and report any illegal activities to store management. This position requires a proactive approach to customer service and a dedication to the health and well-being of our community.

Responsibilities

  • Support company health and wellness initiatives
  • Understand and adhere to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations and the company’s policies regarding the same
  • Maintain a current national and/or state registration, certification, or license depending on state requirements
  • Assist pharmacist in all responsibilities except those that require a pharmacist’s professional judgement
  • Provide a stellar customer experience while accurately and efficiently completing all steps of reception, data entry, adjudication, and product dispensing
  • Support the continued coaching and training of clerks and/or technicians
  • Compound medications according to state and any other regulations
  • Perform post fill audits to verify prescription information matches computer records
  • Support non-dispensing services through the use of various platforms, resources, and applications
  • Complete all aspects of CLIA-waived screenings consistent with state and federal law as well as company policies
  • Provide any additional health and wellness services allowed by state and other regulatory bodies
  • Comply with and reinforce all sanitation and safety regulations/guidelines/procedures and programs according to company, local, state, and federal health code regulations; identify unsafe conditions and notify store management
  • Comply with local, state and federal regulations; report all illegal activity, including robbery, theft or fraud
  • Must be able to perform the essential job functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information
  • Completion of national registration, certification or licensure
