About the position

As a Pharmacy Certified Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service and supporting the health and wellness initiatives of our community. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the pharmacist in delivering high-quality care to our customers while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. You will be expected to create a safe, clean, and inclusive environment for both customers and employees, treating everyone with fairness and respect. Your role will involve direct patient intervention, where you will provide health and wellness services tailored to the needs of the patients, all while adhering to the guidelines set forth by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). In this position, you will be responsible for accurately completing all steps of reception, data entry, adjudication, and product dispensing. You will also support the training and coaching of clerks and technicians, ensuring that all team members are equipped to provide stellar customer experiences. Compounding medications according to state regulations and performing post-fill audits to verify prescription information will be part of your daily tasks. Additionally, you will be involved in supporting non-dispensing services and conducting CLIA-waived screenings as permitted by law. Your commitment to maintaining sanitation and safety regulations will be essential in identifying and reporting any unsafe conditions to store management. This role requires a proactive approach to compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including reporting any illegal activities such as theft or fraud. You will be expected to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation, ensuring that you contribute positively to the pharmacy's operations and the overall health of the community.

Responsibilities

  • Support company health and wellness initiatives
  • Understand and adhere to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations and the company’s policies regarding the same
  • Maintain a current national and/or state registration, certification, or license depending on state requirements
  • Assist pharmacist in all responsibilities except those that require a pharmacist’s professional judgement
  • Provide a stellar customer experience while accurately and efficiently completing all steps of reception, data entry, adjudication, and product dispensing
  • Support the continued coaching and training of clerks and/or technicians
  • Compound medications according to state and any other regulations
  • Perform post fill audits to verify prescription information matches computer records
  • Support non-dispensing services through the use of various platforms, resources, and applications
  • Complete all aspects of CLIA-waived screenings consistent with state and federal law as well as company policies
  • Provide any additional health and wellness services allowed by state and other regulatory bodies
  • Comply with and reinforce all sanitation and safety regulations/guidelines/procedures and programs according to company, local, state, and federal health code regulations; identify unsafe conditions and notify store management
  • Comply with local, state and federal regulations; report all illegal activity, including robbery, theft or fraud

Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information
  • Completion of national registration, certification or licensure
