About the position

As a Pharmacy Customer Service Associate at Walgreens, you will play a crucial role in delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience. Your primary responsibilities will include registering sales on the cash register and providing courteous, fair, friendly, and efficient checkout service to customers. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, you will assist in the practice of pharmacy by using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. This position requires a strong commitment to customer service and adherence to state and federal regulations governing pharmacy operations. In your role, you will engage with customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. You will resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience. It is essential to model and share customer service best practices with all team members, which includes demonstrating interpersonal habits such as greeting, maintaining eye contact, and providing courteous service. You will also be responsible for recommending items for sale to customers and suggesting trade-up and companion items to enhance their shopping experience. Operationally, you will provide fast and efficient service, ensuring that counters and shelves are clean and well-merchandised. You will take inventory, maintain records, and check in and price merchandise as required. Additionally, you will perform various duties assigned by the Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including entering patient and drug information into pharmacy systems, filling prescriptions, and verifying the accuracy of medications. You will also assist in scheduling and maintaining workflow within the pharmacy department. Your role will require you to report any prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program. You will handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention and process manual claims for third-party prescription services efficiently. Furthermore, you will assist with inventory management activities, ensuring compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products, and maintaining knowledge of company asset protection techniques.

  • Fills prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs.
  • Reports prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately.
  • Handles telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention.
  • Processes manual claims for third-party program prescription services in a timely manner.
  • Assists with inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
  • Ensures compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products.

Requirements

  • Education: Less than High School
  • Experience: None required
  • Ability to engage with customers and provide excellent service
  • Knowledge of pharmacy systems and operations
  • Strong communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in processing prescriptions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
