About the position

As a Pharmacy Customer Service Associate at Walgreens, you will play a crucial role in delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience. Your primary responsibilities will include registering sales on the assigned cash register and providing customers with courteous, fair, friendly, and efficient checkout service. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, you will assist in the practice of pharmacy by using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions in accordance with state and federal regulations. You will engage with customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services, ensuring a positive customer experience by resolving issues and answering questions. In addition to customer engagement, you will model and share customer service best practices with team members, emphasizing interpersonal habits such as greeting, eye contact, and courtesy. You will also be responsible for recommending items for sale, processing customer purchases, and maintaining a clean and well-merchandised store environment. Your operational duties will include taking inventory, checking in merchandise, and performing clerical tasks as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager. You will ensure compliance with company policies regarding prescription dispensing and report any errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty. Your role will also involve assisting with inventory management activities, maintaining knowledge of asset protection techniques, and ensuring compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products. You will assist with the maintenance of displays and product placement, provide customer service in the photo area, and monitor web pick-up orders. Additionally, you will be expected to maintain a clean and orderly store appearance and complete special assignments as needed. To succeed in this role, you will need to earn and maintain PTCB certification and participate in ongoing training and personal development to stay updated on healthcare and pharmacy practices.

Responsibilities

  • Processes customer purchases, collects cash, and distributes change as requested.
  • Maintains clean and well-merchandised counters and shelves, takes inventory, and maintains records.
  • Enters patient and drug information into pharmacy systems accurately.
  • Fills prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs.
  • Reports prescription errors to the pharmacist immediately.
  • Handles telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention.
  • Processes manual claims for third-party prescription services in a timely manner.
  • Assists with inventory management activities, including ordering and unpacking pharmaceuticals.
  • Constructs and maintains promotional displays and ensures compliance with product placement policies.
  • Provides customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo services.
  • Assumes web pick-up responsibilities and monitors orders in Picture Care Plus.
  • Ensures clean and orderly store condition and appearance.
  • Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend hours.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Prefer good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions.
  • Prefer good computer skills.
  • Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
  • Prefer PTCB certification.
